Retrofit Suffolk Success
Retrofit scheme opens up new opportunities for Suffolk Suppliers
Over 80 businesses came together on Thursday 7 November to form a powerful supply chain for a new funding initiative created by Suffolk's Public Sector Organisations.
The recent announcement of the fund, worth £3million, means that homeowners can make sustainable improvements to their homes in order to drive efficiency and reduce their carbon footprint.
With works such as solar pv systems, ground source heat pumps, double and triple glazed windows and doors, and loft, wall and floor insulation all being applicable, now is the time for homeowners to make much needed improvements in order to drive down bills and contribute to the County's goal of reaching Net Zero by 2030.
The Retrofit Suffolk event, hosted at Easton Grange Events in Woodbridge, brought together a whole range of local businesses that will be able to take advantage of the opportunities available, ensuring that the supply chain is ready to go when the first funding is drawn down.
With talks from Natural Building Systems on their innovative carbon capture products, as well as Suffolk New College on how they are supporting the training required through their Net Zero Skills Centre. Guests finished off the morning with roundtable discussions where they could get involved with feeding back the challenges they are facing around skills, innovation, funding and collaboration, as well as connecting with one another in order to spark new business relationships.
The day ended with the announcement of a new framework that will be formed in order for Suffolk's Public Sector Organisations to signpost residents in order to ensure that this vital work is being carried out by local firms.
Emma Alderton, Suffolk Supply Chain Lead at Suffolk Chamber of Commerce who organised the event says "This new funding initiative will bring real opportunities to the Suffolk Supply Chain, with a chance to bring new and innovative technology to their workstreams, as well as an increase in upskilling their workforce. The support that's available through our public sector, local colleges, and other businesses through collaboration, as well, really highlights the joined-up approach to development that we have here in Suffolk"
