A council has agreed to invest £500,000 to deliver a sports facility a decade in the making.
East Suffolk councillors unanimously agreed the top-up funding on Tuesday as part of a push to finally deliver the first phase of the Halesworth Campus project, including a full-size grass pitch and an all-weather 3G pitch.
The money will come from the authority's Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) pot — developer contributions paid to councils for investment in local services.
Plans to transform the former Halesworth Middle School site, in Harrisons Lane, into a community sports hub were initially revealed in 2012.
However, despite planning permission and a successful CIL bid of more than £1.6 million in 2021, the project has failed to advance.
The first phase is estimated to cost close to £3.1 million, with the council's contribution totalling some £2.14 million.
