East Anglia identified as a 'Goldilocks zone' for energy projects

East Anglia has been named as one of the UK’s Goldilocks zones for its 'just right' geological conditions to drive the country’s clean energy transition.

New research has found the region’s subsurface is perfect for renewable projects and energy-transition technologies, with the potential unlock £40bn of annual investment in jobs and economic growth.

The British Geological Survey’s research identified eight "geological super regions" – areas with formations and conditions beneath the Earth’s surface that are favourable for a variety of different energy technologies.
